your blip in the universe.

life is sometimes very wonderful,
and sometimes very difficult.
but most of the time,
life is just neutral.

remember during the difficult times
that the pain won’t last forever,
that things will eventually shift.

and remember to savor the wonderful times,
to imprint the joy in your heart and in your head,
a stirring reminder to carry you through.

i cycle through emotions quickly.
elation to despair in less than 6 seconds,
before shifting into neutral to coast.

life goes on, both routine and extraordinary.
capture it all, feel it all, live it all.
because this is your moment,
your blip in the universe.

Hello April! I just love your poetry blog post style. It really is so true that less is more. I read your few, but powerful words and soak them in as resonating with my truth. I love that you remind me I am a blip in the universe. Thus to remember not to take myself too seriously, to embrace joy and maximize happy moments and that “This too shall pass.” for the pain or frustration points.

Cycling through emotions in 6 seconds…I so relate! Sometimes, I just breathe. Happy Sunday to you.

  2. Yep, I’ve been known to cycle through elation and despair almost that quickly, too. Sometimes I wonder at the depth of those emotions but I suspect I wouldn’t have it any other way. xxoo

  3. Very motivational, I love this poem, I especially love the last verse “life goes on, both routine and extraordinary.
capture it all, feel it all, live it all. because this is your moment, your blip in the universe.” There couldn’t be truer words.

I love how you framed it: “your blip in the universe”. So true!! It all passes, the good, the bad and the neutral. Your message is powerful here…live…all of it. <3

  5. Heather says:

I can more than relate to the elation to despair – and back again! – all in the course o a day. It scares me sometimes time that our emotions can turn like that and then I realize that this is just life, a blip in the universe as you say!

  6. Lori says:

It comes down to the fact that neither supreme joy nor the depths of despair are lasting emotions. We need to remind ourselves that the rough times will pass; while being present in the happy moments in an effort to savor them.

  7. Dana says:

Oh April, I so enjoyed this. I too can cycle through several emotions quickly…I wouldn’t change that, it provides a rich writing environrment writing
