the moon shoots sideways

UNSETTLED.

the moon shoots sideways
i’m under its spell
so i move too

the force trips me up
but only for a brief pause
the tides fight back
then acquiesce as i roll into them

CHAOTIC. the word of the day.

yet DETERMINED.

the path wide, my trail narrow
peace envelops me
my heartbeat calms

vivacious.
vibrant.
VITAL.

fifty-fifty chance
weak or strong

i’ll risk it.

this is another example of the freewrite experiment that i call poetry untethered.

try it. it’s cathartic.
share it. it’s powerful.

  8. I wrote a lot of poetry (prose poems) about 10 or 12 years ago (wow, I didn’t realize it was so long ago!) that helped me a LOT as I healed and worked through a bunch of stuff. I haven’t written that way for a long time. This is what came out today, though, as I was pondering a struggle I’m having (certainly not a poem I like, but I’m sharing the untetheredness of it :).

    Can’t get on track.
    Can’t even find the track.
Going this way, that way . . .
Like I’m lost with no direction.
    Where’s the track?
    Move here, move there.
    Never find it.
    Try to find it.
Try to fit the wheels into the track.
    But always off.

  9. You had me at “The moon shoots sideways” – I just couldn’t figure out what you were talking about and I had to come see this post. Free-form poetry is so much fun. Thanks for sharing!
