intrigue me

i’ve always felt the need to capture images that intrigue me.

as a teen/twenty-something, i didn’t have a camera readily available at a moment’s notice, as i do with my iphone. so instead i’d chronicle what i was seeing in words, quickly and hastily jotted down in my ever-present notebook. descriptive prose that would enable me to once again conjure up the scene at a later date.

what did i / do i seek out? what catches my eye? what kinds of things mesmerize me so much that i need a permanent record of them?

well, it’s hard to fully-and-completely answer that, since my prerequisites include things that are different and original, things that give me a brand-new perspective . . . basically things that are still undefined at this point. but i can provide a few broad examples.

i love bold colors, muted colors, pastel colors. complementary and mismatched hues too. quaint and whimsical items and scenes draw me in. unusual patterns. and always always always “crumbly goodness” (as a friend has termed it).

friendly people with big smiles. unusual people with interesting faces. cats. sometimes other animals. mostly cats. glimpses of heartwarmingly human moments. splashes of imagination and industry. beautiful architecture, innovative design. artsy clever touches.

raw emotion and gritty cityscapes. wide open spaces and dramatic skies. trees and flowers. certain cars. sunlight, rain splatters, fresh snow. telltale remnants of windy days.

and . . . well, wow. the world’s a pretty wonderful place, isn’t it? 🖤
