i’m shouting from the rooftops today!
i’m on my soapbox.
“whatever the mind can conceive and believe . . . it can achieve.”
~napoleon hill
pause for a moment and take a deep and honest look –
at yourself.
at your life.
does the stark appraisal make you proud?
does it leave you feeling satisfied?
if not, what is missing?
what are you not doing that you desperately wish to do?
why aren’t you doing it?
what is holding you back?
what are the obstacles?
how can you either overcome them,
or alter your plan and make things happen now?
and you’ve heard this, perhaps a million times before, but . . .
what the hell are you waiting for?
we all know, especially as we grow older,
that anything can happen at any time.
things do not stay the same.
they change, they evolve.
and we need to change and evolve with them.
or we are in danger of being hopelessly left behind.
stagnant.
and eventually we die.
it’s over.
we simply don’t have unlimited time.
so we need to live in an unlimited way now.
“limits are the barbed wire of real life.”
~sarah ban breathnach
yes, pushing past the limits, climbing that fence,
will probably hurt a little.
we need boundaries,
but we must be careful that they’re not too restrictive.
we mustn’t let them confine us unnecessarily.
what are you fencing in?
what are you keeping out?
it’s not a matter of can-or-can’t.
it’s a matter of wanting.
of wanting a life-worth-living so badly
that you are willing to risk.
of wanting it so badly
that you won’t think twice about daring.
what do you want your life to look like?
write it all down.
make a detailed blueprint.
study it, brainstorm ways to get it.
decide it will be yours.
be persistent.
no matter what has come before in your life –
disappointment, divorce, disease, death –
you deserve to live your best life now.
you can always begin again, turn to a fresh page.
do it now.
transform your equation into:
DESERVING, DETERMINED, DAUNTLESS.
i’m not suggesting that you ignore
what’s thus far made you marvelous.
what have you been most pleased with in your life?
list it all out.
revel in it, gloat over it, pat yourself on the back.
start to combine your two worlds.
mix what you’ve done with what you still wish to achieve.
then make your blueprint a reality.
take a leap.
make things happen.
be curious. be gutsy.
eyes wide open until the end.

I can see you standing on a great big stage – or the wide open balcony of a Tuscan villa π – preaching this message with arms spread wide. It’s a message that we need to hear A LOT these days. A message that my colleague and I keep discussing as a critical need for radical self-love. Now!
This is all unapologetically true. I love it! (And it inspires me to keep taking one step in front of the other in the same vein.)
oh, how i love this comment! thanks for visiting, cathy. π
Ahhhhh yes! And I see you doing just that. Beautiful way to lead, my friend. Your passion is sure to ignite … joie de vivre comes to mind. I’m still leaping. Sometimes I fall, but mostly I fly. xxoo
the falls are definitely part of the process, aren’t they? but they make the flying that much more enjoyable. thanks, sue ann.
Oh yes!
I’m not sure that I can answer this today. I am in “a mood.”
I just deleted my previous comment because I don’t want it out there for all eternity.
I’ll email it to you instead. xo
i emailed you back! <3
I love the fire of this…the (much needed) kick in the ass! I love how you propose building that ideal blueprint by getting clear on the future you want and clear about the successes of the past! Beautifully written!!
thank you so much, april! π
I loved,
“wanting a life-worth-living so badly
that you are willing to risk.
of wanting it so badly
that you wonβt think twice about daring”
I’m finally stepping into a place of daring, and yes I’ve gotten hurt, but I’ve gotten the experiences, clarified what I want and what I deserve! π
hooray to stepping into that place of daring, jamie! (and i think we’ve all suffered a fair amount of scrapes and bruises along the way.)
