august 15 is an important day in italy.
a widely celebrated national holiday called ferragosto.

introduced by the emperor augustus in 18 BC
and coinciding with a catholic holy day,
it’s considered the height of the italian summer.
kicking off what being “on holiday” is all about.

so in honor of this magnificent celebration,
i thought i’d share a poem i wrote that
celebrates the magnificence in each of us.

reflect often.
recognize grit.

remember how you never gave up.
 
 
today.
ignore naysayers.
risk jumping.

even if you’re not feeling courageous.
 
 
tomorrow.
consider growth.
appreciate movement.

remember how truly magnificent you were.
 
 
treat your current self with kindness,
with admiration and love.
and make your future self beam at the memory.
