breathing, 1-2-3.

breathing.

that amazing built-in tool that reflects
or can even guide the way we feel.

our breaths often come in spasms when we’re crying,
quicken and shorten when we’re feeling stressed.

shallow breathing tends to limit our abilities,
both physically and mentally.

here is a very short, very simple exercise
you can do anytime anywhere.

first imagine a tranquil scene.

then – reminding yourself that shallow breathing
leads to shallow living –

begin attending and welcoming in with your inhales,
letting go and releasing with your exhales.

breathe in consciously and deeply, 1-2-3.
inhaling your experiences, your moments of exhilaration.

breathe out mindfully and fully, 1-2-3.
exhaling your disappointments, your moments of devastation.
