the woman’s brave hues

for the past ten days, i’ve been immersed in a very interesting creative practice, taking a journey deep into my body’s spontaneous wisdom. as part of a year-long course i am enrolled in, i was invited to “meditate upon the poetry of my mysterious inner life.”

each day, i set aside a few minutes to quickly pull from a magazine an image that attracted me, a picture that produced a strong emotional charge (even if i didn’t fully understand why at the time). then i engaged in freewriting, responding to whatever came up for me from the image, resulting in a short intuitive poem.

this simple (and enjoyable) way of expressing myself turned out to be an amazingly powerful process. an emotional spontaneous all-over-body process. i decided to share five of my poems here today (no editing or rewriting):

One Response to the woman’s brave hues

  1. I finally took the time to sit and read your last post, here while on retreat in Clarkfork. What an interesting assignment. I loved reading the poems and what came out of the images you chose. The playhouse one really got to me.
