hi. i apologize that my studio notes didn’t go out last week. i ended up having surgery on my broken wrist last tuesday, and just wasn’t feeling up to it. i still haven’t returned to my desk & laptop, so this week i’m sharing a 6-minute freewrite i did on monday instead. the other group participants and i were instructed to choose from a pile of facedown cards. each card had only an illustrated image on it, no text. we were then told to turn our cards over and write about whatever came up for us. here is my image and my resulting passage:
the bubbles were like little worlds, little planets to discover. not quite within reach yet, perhaps in danger of popping my dreams too soon. but i was ready. i had decided to go, had decided to try something new. so i did not hesitate. i flung my belongings over my shoulder and set off, a nomad once more. my restless spirit had never really been soothed by settling down, by putting down roots. where would i end up? the possibilities were endless. shining in the sky ahead of me, above me, all around me. waiting for me to pluck one (maybe more) down and fully explore it. in time, in time. this was the exciting part. the unknown adventure just beginning to unravel and take shape.
