the world needs a lot of small acts right now.

wear a mask.
tell someone thanks.

april 1 (from my facebook post, lockdown in italy day 23 / self-isolation day 45):

to those who have been reading my words each day, grazie mille. thank you very much.

to those who worry about me when they read my words, sto bene. i am fine.

i am feeling strong and brave, just as i’ve felt when facing other trials in my life (a gift from my momma). but i feel the need to be honest and real too.

because every bit of strength comes from a place of perceived weakness, every bit of bravery originates from recognized fear.

it is okay to feel all of the above. it is okay to talk about, certainly to express (even to embrace), the full gamut of our emotions.

we are human beings, and we feel things deeply. and right now, in this time of vast uncertainty, we are experiencing our emotions to the most extreme degrees.

it is okay. it is normal. let’s talk about it. ❤️

today is april 1, the first day of my month. and quarantine or not, i am proud to rule as queen for the next 30 days. (do not ask eric if he agrees.)

here is a pre-covid-19-world photo. someday i will walk the streets of my beloved tellaro again, and feel that lightness more fully than ever before.

UPDATE: i was finally able to return to this lovely seaside village on june 16, and it was heavenly.
